Do Not Fade Into The Background
We’ve all received emails about Coronavirus over the past few weeks from literally every company we ever subscribed to (honestly, I didn’t even know I was on half of these distribution lists). But there’s a difference between being sensitive and resourceful vs. being insensitive and opportunistic.
Crises like COVID-19 (I’ve never seen a more appropriate use of the word “unprecedented”) offer us a rare opportunity to take a step back and look at our true value add. What are people lacking right now, and how can we help fill in the gaps? While doing our part in flattening the curve of this global pandemic (by staying home) is everyone’s highest priority right now, also think about how you can become a part of that story.
Hunkering down and not emerging until life is back to normal is certainly one strategy, but don’t hold your breath. It could be a while. You also could be considered a “fair-weather” company, or worse yet, forgotten altogether. Take a look at how the world is changing . . . from working from home to telemedicine. Since we’re all trying to figure this out together, be a part of the dialogue and a part of the solution. Wouldn’t that feel better than just sitting back and waiting for this to blow over? The world could be a very different place by then, and it may or may not have room for your company as it stands now.
